I am writing to seek your endorsement for my candidacy as a Rochester City School District Board of Education Commissioner in the upcoming primary election. As a proud graduate of Benjamin Franklin High and a Rochester native with over two decades of educational experience, I bring a deep understanding of our community's needs and a proven track record of educational leadership that could greatly serve our students, families, and community.
My journey in education began as a substitute teacher within the Rochester City School District, which ignited my passion for shaping young minds and fostering inclusive learning environments. Over the years, I have served as a full-time teacher, special education coordinator, and school administrator in diverse settings across the U.S., Abu Dhabi, and China. These experiences, coupled with my advanced studies—including a Master’s in Teaching, a Master’s in Leadership, and my ongoing pursuit of a doctorate in Organizational Leadership—have honed my skills in reforming schools, developing innovative curricula, and addressing systemic challenges. Most recently, I developed a youth program focusing on mental health and violence prevention in partnership with R-Centers, addressing critical needs in our community. These experiences have equipped me with the leadership and collaborative spirit needed to unify and drive meaningful change within the Board of Education.
Our school district faces pressing challenges, from addressing the staggering 63% absenteeism rate to creating alternative pathways that cater to diverse student needs. My campaign is anchored in the belief that quality education is a right, not a privilege, and that a united, accountable board can bridge gaps and inspire confidence in our public schools. With your endorsement, we can amplify this vision and work together to foster a culture of kindness, compassion, and accountability throughout the district. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to meet with you to further discuss my campaign, share my plans for our schools, and learn how we can collaboratively ensure a brighter future for our community’s children.
